Public Transportation RF Smart Cards or I.C. cards (IC Ka) as they are known here in Beijing can be used for both the subway and the bus.
The card itself costs 20 Yuan and than you need to decide how much credit you want to buy.
We recommend to use this card for two reasons:
- bus ride price is 60% off when using this card (Subway price remains 2 Yuan)
- It saves you the trouble of standing in line for subway ticket. During Rush hour this line could get quite long and you might miss the subway.
- It saves you the trouble of looking for 1 kuai bills on a moving crowded buses.
